MUBZ Relief is the humanitarian wing of Madrasah Urwah Bin Az Zubayr. Established to serve as an umbrella for multiple initiatives, we are dedicated to uplifting and supporting those in need — through ongoing projects as well as urgent relief during crises. Guided by Islāmic values and inspired by the legacies of the Ṣaḥābah, our mission is to serve humanity with dignity and compassion.
Our Story
In July 2021, South Africa experienced widespread unrest that left many families vulnerable. In response, Madrasah ‘Urwah launched a relief effort in the KZN region, distributing over 1,300 grocery hampers and assisting businesses left in peril. This initiative became the springboard for the formation of MUBZ Relief. Since then, we have continued to expand, reaching communities across South Africa and beyond with vital aid.
Our Outreach Efforts
Over the years, MUBZ Relief has been blessed to undertake a wide range of relief initiatives, including:
Emergency Response:
- Fire relief in Vaalbank Informal Settlement (2021) with the distribution of blankets and kitchenware.
- Water distributions in Hammanskraal and Bethal.
- Refugee and earthquake relief for Syria.
Food & Welfare Support:
- Ongoing grocery and meat hamper distributions in multiple regions including Mpumalanga, Cape Town, Middelburg, and Witbank.
- Ramadān hamper distributions and financial aid.
- Daily hot meals for the underprivileged.
- Rental assistance and debt relief.
Community Assistance:
- Distribution of socks to hospitals.
- Support for orphans and the elderly through tablecloths, clothing, linen, and furniture.
- Masājid maintenance and Qurʾān cover distributions.
- Support to ʿUlamāʾ and community centres.
- Cemetery Cleanups
- Vehicle maintenance for essential community use.
Education & Development:
- Student bursaries and educational chart distributions.
- Desks and school furniture for Makātib and schools.
Healthcare & Well-being:
- Medical assistance and sponsorship of safe childbirth.
- Provision of wheelchairs and other mobility aids.
- Newborn baby care packs
- Maternity welfare packs for new mothers
Sustainability Projects:
- Installation of inverters and gas stoves to assist families during load-shedding.
- Drilling of water wells and boreholes locally and internationally
- Erecting Masjids
Through these initiatives, MUBZ Relief continues to grow as a trusted platform for service, ensuring that relief reaches the most vulnerable — both locally and internationally. Every effort is made possible through the help of Allāh and the generosity of our donors.
