INTRODUCTION
Key Efforts & Projects
South Africa is currently facing frequent electricity outages, leaving homes without power at inopportune times. This situation is especially challenging for the elderly, widowed, and vulnerable families, who often lack the support needed to carry out daily tasks.
This initiative provides a practical solution by installing backup energy systems in homes and community institutions, ensuring uninterrupted access to electricity when needed. Installations are carried out in:
- Masājid
- Homes of ʿUlamāʾ
- Homes of widows and vulnerable families
Established under the banner of MUBZ Relief, this initiative began in July 2023 and continues with the will of Allāh and the support of generous donors. It is an ongoing effort aimed at enhancing community resilience and supporting those most affected by energy shortages.
Inspiration
The Prophet ﷺ highly valued those who serve and beautify the house of Allāh Ta’ālā. One notable example is the companion Tamīm al-Dārī رضي الله عنه, who brought oil candles from Damascus to Madīnah. When it became dark in the Masjid, he lit the candles. Upon seeing this, the Prophet ﷺ expressed his delight and said to him:
“You have illuminated Islām and beautified the Masjid. May Allāh illuminate you in this world and the Hereafter.”
(Qurṭubī, Ibn Ḥajar)
This project continues in the spirit of Tamīm al-Dārī رضي الله عنه, bringing light and comfort to communities in need.
